AMAZÔNIA
Belém 2025

This November, the world turns its eyes to Belém do Pará, Brazil, where for the first time in history a UN Climate Change Conference (COP) will be hosted in the heart of the Amazon, the largest tropical forest on Earth and one of the most critical ecosystems for global climate balance.
The choice of Belém as the COP30 host city is both symbolic and historic: it places the Amazon, which is on the frontlines of both the climate crisis and its solutions, at the centre of international negotiations. This should be a unique opportunity for the voices of traditional peoples and local communities to be heard at the core of the global climate debate.
At the same time, COP30 faces major logistical and accessibility challenges. These limitations risk excluding many representatives from remote regions, precisely those most impacted by the climate crisis.
That's why Island Innovation will be on the ground in Belém, representing island communities worldwide and ensuring their perspectives are not left behind.
